On Friday, March 29, 2019, between 10:00 - 12:00 hours, volunteers members of the local MCL Detachment 1267, Col. Phillis C. DeLong, and partnered VIETNAM WAR COMMEMORATION COMMITTEE, gathered at the VA Outpatient Clinic, located at Mulberry Grove Plaza, in The Villages Florida.
There, they presented "Vietnam War Commemorative 50th Anniversary Pins", to eligible veterans. The purpose for this event was to thank and honor veterans of the Vietnam War, including persons held as prisoner of war (POWs), or listed as missing in action (MIA), for their service and sacrifice on behalf of the United States and to thank and honor the families of these veterans to highlight the service of the Armed Forces during the Vietnam War and the contributions of Federal agencies and governmental and non-governmental organizations that served with, or in support of, the Armed Forces. To pay tribute to the contributions made on the home front by the people of the United States during the Vietnam War. To highlight the advances in technology, science, and medicine related to military research conducted during the Vietnam War. To recognize the contributions and sacrifices made by the allies of the United States during the Vietnam War.
In attendance were, Lou Calleja, Local Chairman of the VN Commemoration Committee - Past DoF Commandant & Past FL Pack Leader, Reggie Nealy, Past Detachment 1267 Commandant, Nathan Pratt Commandant Detachment 1267, Neil Stapleton - Color Guard Commander Detachment 1267, Ernest Cooper - Assistant Color Guard Commander Detachment 1267, & Curt Morgan - Past Public Relations Officer Detachment 1267.
