The mission of RED-Shirt-Fridays is to show support for our servicemen and servicewomen. We care only about making our support of our servicemen and servicewomen known to our fellow Americans and the world. We wish to let our servicemen and servicewomen know we support their sacrifice and that we will not forget them; we will do this by wearing RED every Friday. Although Red Shirt Fridays was not our idea, we became involved and started raising money, to directly support veterans and military members, and their families. A few of us know what it is like to be half a world away from your life, to feel that no one cares. Our hope is that none of our armed forces will ever have to go through that.
Our job is to support our troops and in the process we can help to increase their morale by showing we care. Let’s face it, your show of appreciation could very well save someone’s son or daughter’s life. So our question to you is, will you do your part and wear RED on Fridays?
Operation, Helping Hands
James A. Haley VA Hospital
Empowering Military Families
Assistance for active duty military patients & families
The Program:
Since the beginning of Operation Iraqi Freedom and Operation Enduring Freedom, the James A. Haley Veterans' Hospital has had a marked increase in the number of wounded and injured active duty members referred for treatment. Their Spinal Cord Injury and Comprehensive Rehabilitation Units have treated some of the most severely injured service members who have been in combat in these operations. The average stay for the injured is 45 days. Many of the families travel from all over the country and must provide for themselves while staying here in the Tampa Bay area.
You are welcome to join us on the third Thursday of each month. Contact us through the link below for more information.
